Proud To Be ODD
A Clinical Systems Administrator should be Proud to be ODD
This is because ODD is an acronym for:
ORIENTED TO PROCESSES:
Processes that streamline the human - technology interaction
required for successfully caring for patients while building
and utilizing the Electronic Health Record
DRIVEN BY POLICIES:
Policies that organize, communicate and assign accountability for proper
application of directive procedures
DIRECTED BY PROCEDURES:
Procedures that standardize, support and give direction to the users of
the computer system in conjunction with the processes necessary to effectively
provide and document patient care.
These three considerations are KEY to managing the human side of the
symbiotic relationship that exists between the technology of the
clinical systems we select to build the Electronic Health Record
and the people that utilize this technology.
The ideal equation for a SUCCESSFUL Clinical Systems Administrator breaks down like this: -
CLINICAL SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATION = [ (ODD) +
( Effective Technology Implementation and Management ) ]
